About

AmeriCorps is a U.S. federal government program that was created under President Bill Clinton by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. More than 70,000 individuals currently join AmeriCorps annually, totaling more than 500,000 past and current members since 1994. The work done by these groups ranges from public education to environmental clean-up.

Positions

The Southern Sudan Community Association offers 2 AmeriCorps positions (1 full-time and 1 part-time) each year. These positions are for the time period of September through August. AmeriCorps members receive a living stipend, an education award at the end of service, and health insurance for full-time members. AmeriCorps members are allowed to defer any student loans during their service. SSCA's full-time AmeriCorps members assists with case management and building community partnerships. The part-time member assists with resource development and volunteer coordination.

The Southern Sudan Community Association is now accepting AmeriCorps applications for the 2009-2010 service year.
